Applying To Kingsbury Country Day School

Who can apply to Kingsbury Country Day School?

KCDS is a tuition free charter academy for students living in Michigan. We enroll students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

How many students are in each class?

The class size is capped at eighteen (18).

How old does a child need to be to enter Kindergarten?

For the school year 2015-2016 current Michigan law (House Bill 4513) requires that a kindergarten student must turn five (5) by September 1, 2015 to be eligible for school.

How do I apply at Kingsbury Country Day School?

Parents or guardians must contact Audrey J. Smith-Dibble, Director of Enrollment and Community Relations, at 248.628.5000 or at adibble@kingsburyschool.org to schedule an appointment to tour the campus. At the completion of the tour, an Application for Possible Enrollment will be given. An application must be completed for each student. The Open Enrollment period for KCDS will be held Monday, January 12, 2015 through Friday, February 27, 2015. Applications will be accepted in person at KCDS from 8:00 am through 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Current KCDS students will be offered a seat for the following year. If we receive more applications (during the Open Enrollment period) than open seats, we will conduct a lottery to fill any available seats, and all other names will be waitlisted in the order drawn by the third party.

Siblings of enrolled students will be given first seating if space is available; if space is not available, the siblings will advance to the top of the waitlist.

How will I be notified of the results of the lottery drawing?

The Open Enrollment Lottery will be held on March 6, 2015 at 9:00 am in the Justin A. Schwartz Center on campus. Every student who applies for admission to Kingsbury Country Day School by the announced deadline will receive a letter within two (2) days of the lottery draw advising them of their status.

What should I do to accept or decline an offer from Kingsbury Country Day School?

Parents have ten (10) days from the date of notification to accept or decline the offer of admission. Acceptance offers may not be put on hold. Parents must make a decision on all offers made to them. If a response to an offer is not received by the stated deadline, offers will be considered declined and the offer will be given to the next student on the waitlist.

If I am on the waitlist, do I need to apply every year?

An applicant on the waitlist must reapply as a new student at the time a new open enrollment period begins.

Enrollment at Kingsbury Country Day School is open to any Michigan resident student. Supporting documents must be delivered to the school in person along with the application for possible enrollment:
