Green Initiatives

Welcome to the Green Committes new section on the website. We are really looking forward to making this a useful place for you to go to learn more about what Kingsbury is doing but also what you can do, tips, products, and interesting articles.

Anytime you see this it means that you can click on the words and it will take you to a related website.

At our first morning discussin group we talked about:

-a no engine idling zone where kids are picked up and dropped off.

-a couple of the changes the school is making to help improve it's efficiency and environmental impact

-SOCRRA is now accepting recycling and hazardous waste from anyone

-Rochester Hills' new Recycle Bank program

-"Mind, Body and Spirits" in Rochester Hills, a "green" restaraunt

-possible ways to get grant money for Kingsbury

-Green School Application

It really was a productive meeting, in fact we should have a waterless urinal installed as a result of the group sometime soon.

Here is a link to Coach Toth's DELICIOUS page. It's a site where he has bookmarked lots of aticle, products, etc. Most are within the "green" theme but some are just interesting, like a link between Hummer drivers and a 4+ increase in traffic tickets.

If you have something that you would like added to this section contact Coach Toth and let him know. Anything that others might find usefull to help conserve energy, money or resources is always welcome.

Meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month in the math room of the upper school. The meetings begin at 8:20 or 8:30 and run until around 9:30. They are very informal so come and enjoy yourself.

Our next meeting will be this coming Tuesday, the 10th. We will be discussing a the Green Schools application as well as sharing a few tips with eachother as to making ourselves more efficient and hopefully save some money.

At our last meeting we discussed

-Green Schools application

-Waterless urinals

-Green Dimes fundraising
