The rudiments of melody, rhythm, harmony, texture, form, articulation, and aesthetic enjoyment are all studied in Junior Kindergarten through 5th grade. Skills are introduced at various grade levels and developed throughout the program.

Music from a variety of styles and diverse cultures is used to explore and demonstrate all skills mentioned. Students participate in singing, circle games, instrument playing, recorder playing, music listening, written games and activities, reading, and online musical resources.

Kingsbury Participates in 2009 AIMS Choral Symposium

Choral Symposium
Beth Richert, Kingsbury's music teacher, directs students representing AIMS schools at a recent choral symposium. 300 voices joined together to express the spirit of Michigan's Independent Schools.

Kingsbury's choir was recently honored to be a part of an Association of Independent Michigan Schools chorale symposium held at the Seligman Performing Arts Center, Detroit Country Day School. The 4th and 5th grade choir was one of six choirs to perform. Then all the choirs joined to sing two finale pieces, "Waters Ripple and Flow" and "Let There be Peace on Earth".
