My philosophy is a student-centered one. I believe in focusing on individual needs, and involving students in the process of their own learning. It is my belief that individual differences need to be recognized, respected, and even celebrated. I will strive to enhance their abilities and talents in a safe, positive, and creative environment; while modeling to them how to become an effective member of our society.
To me, Kingsbury is a community of caring and supportive people. Kingsbury has always played a role in my family. My brother in-law's Dad attended Kingsbury when it was a one room school house. After that my brother in-law went to Kingsbury all the way through the 8th grade. His children followed in his footsteps and attended here as well. Now, my children will attend Kingsbury. I feel so fortunate to have them here. My brother in-law's family also helped start the Friday ski day tradition that Kingsbury continues to follow.
Kingsbury kids are a constant inspiration to me. They challenge me to be my best each day as they show determination and hard work in all they do. I genuinely enjoy their youthful insight and natural curiosity.
I graduated from Oakland University in 2006. Since then, I have continued to attend Oakland to pursue my Masters in Special Education. I have taught for about five years, of which a couple was spent teaching Kindergarten at Premier Academy in Rochester. I have taught the kindergarten program at my church for the last three years. I have also coached my daughter's soccer team. I currently live in the Romeo area with my husband and two wonderful children, Chris and Kayley. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family. I also have a hobby of making hair bows and accessories for kids.
